Lindsey Appleyard

Mixed media artist, Lindsey Appleyard, works with glass, steel, paint, and found objects to create a unique representation of the natural world. Drawing from her background in construction and agriculture, Lindsey uses land itself as a medium to explore human’s relationship to nature. She uses animals to represent important people and concepts in her life. Her work encompasses the duality of life and death, material and subject, and the physical being versus the spirit. The passage of time plays a significant role, as the materials of the pieces interact with the environment around them and physically change over time, such as steel rusting and copper oxidizing. Her work’s meaning evolves as it rusts and sits with the viewer. Lindsey Appleyard is currently an Artist-in-Residence at SBCAST.
