Ulrike Kerber is a designer, researcher, and creative director working at the intersection of AI, storytelling, and visual culture. As a PhD candidate, she explores how AI can enhance creativity, immersive storytelling, and design processes.
She is the founder of Viva Design Inc., an award-winning studio known for bold, elegant design across TV, digital media, and cultural platforms. Her work has shaped content for Disney, MTV, BET, BBC, and Showtime, earning her an Emmy nomination and multiple Promax and ADC awards.
Ulrike holds MAs in Communication Design and Digital Management (Hyper Island) and lectures on design thinking, motion design, and AI tools at universities in Germany, China, Kazakhstan, Sweden, and the U.S. Her recent book, The AI Handbook for Designers, supports creative professionals in navigating new tools with curiosity and critical thinking.
Split between Berlin and California, Ulrike merges research, commercial practice, and art. She is passionate about the poetic and political potential of design in times of change—and often blends analog methods with AI-generated imagery to explore speculative futures and emotional truths.
